As mindfulness teachers we are taught to minimise top down, lecturing styles of delivery and instead, allow our clients to discover their own wisdom by using open enquiry questions. But sometimes we can feel under time pressure, or wanting to perform well and miss the cues that tell us what really matters to the participant. In our eagerness, we may home in on the lesson’s theme prematurely, rather than embodying a truly curious stance of being, open to what emerges in an atmosphere of radical acceptance of what is present.

When we start to investigate, we find that there are parts of us that are keen to apply themselves wholeheartedly to meditation and everyday mindfulness, and there are other parts that doubt our capability, or are interested in other things. In the interest of

deepening integration, all these parts need to be acknowledged and even befriended.

In this workshop we don’t just give these parts a perfunctory nod of acceptance, but engage them in a process of enquiry that draws out their good intentions for us. When we stop being at war with them, our energy will flow more readily and joyfully into our practice, both on and off the cushion (or stool or chair.) When our understanding of ourselves grows more complete and mature in this way, we are more likely to serve our clients better. We will feel more genuinely interested in whatever they present, alert for signs of greater alignment, shifts of energy that indicate a home-coming to ‘Self’.

The day will include guided mindfulness practice of various kinds, some theory about ‘parts work’ or IFS (Internal Family Systems) processes developed by Rick Schwartz and Jay Earley, demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to practice enquiry.

The workshop can count towards your CPD requirements.
